Our Favorite Things to Do at Wadsworth Falls State Park

There is so much to see and do at Wadsworth Falls State Park! We recommend spending at least the afternoon exploring the park. One of our favorite things to do is pack a picnic and head to the park in the late morning. You can also take advantage of our Hiking Package and let us do the prep work for you! There are some fantastic picnicking areas inside the park where you can have lunch as you enjoy the day. Here are a few more of our favorite things to do at Wadsworth Falls State Park.

1. Take a hike.

At Wadsworth Falls State Park, there are six different hiking trails that weave throughout the park, each with varying degrees of difficulty. Be sure to print out a copy of the park map or download the app before you go. We highly recommend the trails leading to the two different waterfalls! One is a smaller waterfall, the Little Falls. The other, Wadsworth Falls, is much larger. The Cogincahug River flows along the length of the park, and the larger waterfall runs nearly to the edge of the park. It is absolutely gorgeous!

2. Cool off with a swim.

Escape the heat with a refreshing swim in the Wadsworth Falls State Park swimming area! It’s the perfect way to cool off after a trail hike. Please be aware there are no lifeguards on duty at Wadsworth Falls State Park, so swim at your own risk and keep a close eye on your children. It’s also recommended to never dive into the swimming pool. The pool is located right near the entrance to the park, so it’s a great place to start your Wadsworth Falls State Park adventure or finish it up on a refreshing note.

3. Experience the Falls.

One of our favorite things to do is to hike to the larger Wadsworth Falls and just spend some time enjoying the beautiful views! Listen to the rush of water and take a few minutes to put aside technology and just truly relax in nature. There is no swimming or picnicking allowed at the Big Falls, so please be sure to use the swimming area and picnic areas around the rest of the park instead. We want our beautiful state park to stay beautiful for many, many years to come!
